The petition filed in Los Angeles Superior Court seeks to give Cher control over the finances of Elijah Allman, a musician and the son of Cher and late musician Gregg Allman.

Cher’s petition states that her son is entitled to regular payments from a trust fund. However, due to his well-documented mental health and substance abuse problems, she fears that the money will be spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no financial security and putting his life at risk.

Responding through his attorney, Elijah Allman asserts that he is of sound mind and body. However, he did not comment on whether he would challenge the conservatorship petition.

A court hearing is scheduled in January to address the conservatorship request outlined in Cher’s filing. The petition explicitly aims to prevent Elijah Allman’s wife, Marieangela King, from having control over his finances.

Cher alleges that Elijah’s relationship with King has been plagued by drug addiction and mental health issues. She also claims that King is not supportive of Elijah’s recovery.

No immediate response was received to requests for comment from King’s attorney and Cher’s representatives.

This legal move by Cher impacts her youngest son, who is known for his involvement with the band Deadsy and his stage name P. Exeter Blue.
